bullet Strathaven Win Centenary Game

Although the weather was dreadful for both teams yesterday in the Centenary Trophy match against Penwortham, Strathaven overcame the elements to beat Penwortham by 546 to 504.

Penwortham Captain Paul Carter presented the Trophy, which had been held by them for the previous two years, to Strathaven Captain Ian Forsyth and commented on how impressive it was that all six Strathaven ladies pairs won their games.  Paul concluded by saying that all those who had played before looked forward to this fixture.  In reply Strathaven Captain Ian Forsyth echoed Pauls comments and thanked everyone who made this fixture such a success and looking forward to a successful defence at Penwortham in 2011.

After the meal, Mr Al Lamonte, aka member Alan McGookin, compered the evenings entertainment in leading a competitive karaoke session with Elvis making a guest appearance just when our Pro Stuart Kerr mysteriously disappeared.

The Strathaven team waved off their new (and old) Penwortham friends as they headed back South on their coach journey to Preston, no doubt with their driver leading them in song, the star karaoke singer for Penwortham.
