CALUM LAWSON
PGA Professional
Calum, as well as all the Professional Shop team pride themselves on being able to provide the best level of service possible. A fully stocked shop as well as the introduction of an indoor studio and putting studio allow the facility to be a one stop shop for your golfing requirements.
Working at some of the leading golf facilities in Scotland gave Calum a great background in customer service and an education in all things golf.
Calum started his Professional career at Blairgowrie golf club where he left his position as Head Assistant Professional in 2013 to concentrate on playing and teaching. In 2015 Calum started as a teaching Professional at Gleneagles before taking up the role as Head Professional at Linlithgow Golf Club. Calum was then appointed Head PGA Professional at Strathaven Golf club in 2019.
Calum has a strong teaching background, he has taught multiple winners on the Tartan Tour as well as multiple national champions at junior level, including;
- Scottish Boys Under 14's Champion
- Scottish Boys Champion
- Scottish Girls Champion
Calum was also chosen by the PGA of Scotland to promote and teach at the Scottish Open in 2014 & 2015, as well as at the British Women's Open in 2013.
Calum loves learning and trying to improve as a coach, he consistently achieves CPD qualifications and has travelled across Britain and Europe studying/observing coaches he admires.
Calum is an accredited member of the PGA, which he has achieved through continued career development in coaching.
GREGOR RAMSAY
PGA professional
Gregor is a Senior PGA Professional and Head of Custom Fitting at the Club. He has been an integral part of the Strathaven Golf Club team since February 2020. Gregor brings a wealth of experience across coaching and club fitting.
With a strong understanding of modern equipment and custom fitting, Gregor excels at helping golfers of all levels optimise the clubs in their bag to suit their swings and goals. His fitting sessions are rooted in both data driven insight and clear, practical communication, ensuring players leave with equipment that will enhance their performance.
Gregor conducts all after school Junior lessons and the Junior Summer Camps at the Club. His ethos for the Juniors is number 1 that they have fun and enjoy the game in a relaxed and safe environment. All of the boys and girls leave the sessions with a smile on their face.
Gregor has a professional sports background being a professional racing driver up to the age of 19. He has now transferred this drive and determination to the game of golf and is always trying to pass over his knowledge on how to get the best out of your ability.
